Preliminary Service Request Process

A Preliminary Service Request (PSR) must be submitted to Bear Valley Electric Service, Incorporated (BVES, Inc.) for New Construction & Services, Panel Upgrades & Relocations, Temporary Service, and Solar Installations.

Allow 3 to 6 weeks for Engineering to review any and all documents/plans pertaining to new construction, work orders and/or design. The review process will be delayed if all required documents are not received. If designs are required, please allow up to a minimum of 4 weeks additional for the Engineer to complete.

New Construction Requirements

• Set of approved building plans

• A bona-fide load schedule, preferably on building plans

• A copy of the approved construction permit

• A Cutsheet of the panel and or Switchgear to be utilized in the construction

• Construction schedule and equipment lead-time

• Must be received by BVES, Inc. Engineering prior to Final (permanent service)

New Housing Development Electric Service Connection Fees

All prices are approximate and may be adjusted depending on labor costs, electrical requirements, or other specific needs such as permitting. Estimated cost will be confirmed by the assigned planner of a given project. Upon project completion, the assigned planner will review final project cost and determine if a customer owes an additional balance or provide a refund amount to be returned to the customer.

Services in unusual locations or in newly developed areas may require an extension of distribution infrastructure in addition to installing new service wire. Examples include erecting additional poles or setting a new transformer for a customer. Please refer to Rule 15 for additional information. Pricing for these services may be included in the connection schedule in accordance with Rule 16 and may result in variance from the estimates below.

• Services <100 feet from existing distribution infrastructure: $0

• Overhead Services 100-200 feet from existing distribution infrastructure: $253

• Underground Services 100-200 feet from existing distribution infrastructure: $1,002

• Services requiring a dedicated pole set: $5,921

• Services requiring a dedicated transformer: $10,172

For a customer requesting service significantly outside BVES, Inc. distribution lines but within the service area, pricing may vary significantly or require additional contracted terms. Exact requirements will be discussed depending on specifics requested and may have unique requirements.

New Electric Service Interconnection Timeline

Prior to the scheduling of interconnection to the BVES, Inc. electrical distribution system, the following conditions must be met:

• Any or all charges must be pre-paid by the Applicant to BVES

• Electrical service release must be approved by appropriate government agency

• Timelines will not start until customer electrical equipment panel/switchgear installation meets BVES inspection standards

Upon completion of above requirements, BVES, Inc. will schedule an interconnection as soon as possible but could take up to 1 – 3 weeks due to weather and/or other limitations. If projects need long lead-time equipment, materials, and/or require permitting, interconnection may be delayed subject to factors outside of BVES, Inc. control.
